20″W x 30″H Like New, Lithograph in colors on smooth white wove paper, Unframed.
This is an original vintage poster produced on the occasion of Andy Warhol’s first large scale exhibition in the UK held in 1971 at the Tate Gallery in London. The pictured work, Shot Sage Blue Marilyn, is one of a five-painting series in different colors done in 1964 using a very precise and laborious silkscreen technique which resulted in uniquely beautiful and luminous images. It was already recognized as one of Andy Warhol’s more significant works at the time and is today widely considered a signature work in his oeuvre and one of the most celebrated images of the second half of the 20th century. Recently, its stature was further underscored when the work came up for auction at Christie’s and realized the highest price of any 20th century artwork. This original poster of the work is a high quality lithograph in colors printed on smooth white wove paper that captures the precision, fine details and luminous inner glow of the original well.
