This beautiful bronze in Nic Jonk’s wonderful voluptuous figurative style represents the mythological subject that Nic explored multiple times. Triton, the son of Poseidon, and his mother Amphitrite, a Nereid and Goddess of the Mediterranean sea. The dutch name given to this piece is “Nereide op Triton.” With its dark gray and celadon patina, this is #5 in an edition of 12.
Nic’s Bio:
Nicolaas (Nic) Jonk (1928-1994) was a highly respected Dutch artist and teacher. A prolific artist producing many paintings, graphic, glass, and ceramic works, he is mostly known for his wonderful monumental figurative and mythologically themed bronze sculptures. His voluptuous and joyful works are in prominent public and private collections internationally. 
In 1965 Nic Jonk established a museum and sculpture garden in the expansive grassy dunes of Grootschemer Holland, just north of Amsterdam, where today 30 of his giant bronzes are displayed in addition to a gallery of his paintings and other works. The property is currently an art and musical concert venue that is in full operation, open to the public, and really should not be missed.  
Beloved in the Netherlands where there are more than 250 of Nic Jonk’s sculptures in public spaces his work is also represented in many private collections and exhibited internationally. A few notable and unique installations are:
