This is just a great original piece. I have had one other original print by Piero Dorazio in the past. His works dont seem to be around here to often so I was surprised when I found this in a former corporate collection in Massachusetts. For those not familiar with the artist I have included his biography below. This is one of his earlier lithographs. A wonderful abstract with the image measuring about 16 x 28 inches. Signed, dated, numbered from an edition of 80 in pencil below the image. Also has a blind stamp lower left corner. Print is in wonderful as printed condition. Some minor rippling within the archival matte and simple silver frame but really a stunning example ready to hang. On the back of the frame is an original label with the print title (maybe) as well as other information. Frame measures 20 3/4 x 32 1/4 inches.
For those not familiar with the artist his biography from the Guggenheim reads: “Piero Dorazio was born Piero D’Orazio on June 29, 1927, in Rome, where he undertook formal studies in architecture at the University of Rome from 1945 to 1951. About the same time he joined the Arte Sociale group, which published single issues of Ariele and La Fabbrica. In 1947 he co-founded the group Forma 1, which produced the Manifesto del Formalismo-Forma 1. Also in 1947, Dorazio was awarded a scholarship to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he spent a year and met Jean Arp, Georges Braque, Sonia Delaunay, Le Corbusier, Gino Severini, Antoine Pevsner, Georges Vantongerloo, and other prominent artists. In 1950 he helped organize the cooperative gallery of the Age d’Or group in Rome and Florence and in 1952 promoted the international foundation Origine in Rome, which published the periodical Arti Visive.
