Pablo Picasso for L’Atelier Mourlot at Galerie Jorgen, – 1984
This lithographic poster was created to announce an exhibition of works from the Mourlot Studio at the Gallery Jørgen in Oslo, Norway. The work was chosen and approved by the Picasso Estate to reproduce is based on a 1947 lithograph entitled La Femme au Fauteuil. It is unframed and unsigned, from an edition of 2000.
Dimensions: 23 x 15 inches image on 30.75 x 19.75 inches paper
Very Good Condition, with some signs of handling or age.

The image was composed of six colors, and Picasso created various proofs of this image, adding colors successively until he reached the desired effect. This lithograph is one of his most significant experiments in using color in printmaking. There are very few other examples of Picasso lithographs in more than six colors.

This lithograph was printed by Mourlot, the Parisian studio known for its striking exhibition posters for French galleries and museums. Since the 1920s, its close collaborations with great artists transformed the art exhibition poster into a stunning artistic statement in its own right
